While much of the world continues toward an eventual recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, the crisis in Nepal is out of control. The healthcare infrastructure is failing to handle the rising number of cases. People are testing positive at a rate of nearly 50%, currently the highest in the world. Over 9,000 daily cases have been reported since mid-April 2021 — 60 times the rate in April 2020. Estimates suggest an average of nearly 200 deaths per day. Some of these deaths could have been prevented if oxygen cylinders were available. This second wave has halted the country and necessitated another lockdown.
While more than one-fourth of the Nepali population is living in extreme poverty, your support can save the lives of many. Every penny donated can help people get the essentials needed for survival.
